Hopkins Hustle 2017 - Final Schedule and Details!

Players/Coaches/Parents-

We are a few days out from the big event! Below you will find a significant amount of information pertaining to the weekend.

1. Schedule

The schedules and seeding are now posted for all 3 divisions. Please do check your schedule again on Friday to ensure there are no changes to your Saturday schedule. The format is subject to change if teams drops prior to the weekend. Cap rules are posted on the event page linked below as well. If you have any major concerns, please reach out. Field numbers for Sunday bracket play will be updated tomorrow.

2. Rosters/Chaperones

Please verify and check that your team has all of its waivers complete, roster submitted, chaperone verified, and are all ready to go. Individuals with one-time event fees should bring the player paperwork and event fee to tournament HQ to the captain's meeting on Saturday morning.

3. Captain's Meeting

Captain's Meeting will be held at 8:00am on Saturday morning at Tournament HQ (Pavilion between J2 and K1 on north side of Lot D). If your team has a first round bye and you are unable to send a representative, please come check in at Tournament HQ to get your team packet upon arrival.

4. Coach's Showcase Game & Pizza

We will have our annual Coach's showcase on Saturday at 5:00pm (field still being finalized, but near HQ). We encourage all coaches to bring their cleats and participate! Each team will receive a ticket for 3 pizzas in the morning (at the Captain's Meeting) and teams are encouraged to stay to watch (and heckle) their respective coaches.

5. Parking

Well... we are no longer at Maple Plain, so there isn't much to this one thankfully! Lot D and Lot E are both fair game. Please drive slowly and be courteous.

6. Field Food/Water

Per usual, we will have bagels and bananas available at HQ both mornings. We will be helping save the earth by using refillable 5 gallon jugs at the fields this weekend. We will have water stations set up at various locations throughout the fields.

Please remind your players to bring nalgenes/water bottles to reuse throughout the weekend!

7. Tournament Gear/Discs

We will have discs and Five Ultimate gear available for purchase at HQ. Cash is preferred, but we will be accepting credit cards. Our inventory is limited this year so make sure to claim your items early!

8. Field Concessions

NSC will be hosting and running concessions in partnership with some of our Hopkins volunteers. They will have a full grill going and plenty of options available near Tournament HQ. Prices are very reasonable so make sure to take advantage!

9. Athletic Trainer

We will have two athletic trainer from NovaCare on site both days. If you need your ankle taped, be sure to show up early to afford yourself enough time! The line will likely be extra long on Sunday morning.

Hopkins Hustle - Schedule and Details

Thank you for your patience! This is a lengthy email, so I apologize in advance.

 

1. Schedule

 

The schedule and seeding are now posted. Cap rules are posted on the event page linked below as well. If you have any major concerns, please reach out.

The schedule for both divisions was updated on Wednesday, May 6th at 5:00pm due to team drops! Please re-check your new game times!

2. Rosters/Chaperones

Those teams who have not completed the required steps for USAU will be contacted within the next 24-48 hours. Please verify and check that your team has all of its waivers complete, roster submitted, chaperone verified, and is ready to go.

3. Captain's Meeting(s)

 

We will host two separate captain's meetings due to the staggered start on Saturday morning. Please ensure that you send a representative to one of these meetings and collect your team packet, which includes your pizza ticket for Saturday evening.

Early Start Captains Meeting: 8:00am 

Late Start Captains Meeting: 9:30am

 

4. Coach's Showcase Game & Pizza

 

We will have a Coach's showcase on Saturday at 5:15pm on the field in front of tournament headquarters. We encourage all coaches to bring their cleats and participate! Each team will receive a ticket for 3 pizzas in the morning (at the Captain's Meeting) and teams are encouraged to stay to watch (and heckle) their respective coaches. 

If your team is not planning on sticking around for the Showcase game, and therefore does't need pizza, please let me know.

5. Parking

We ask that you make all efforts possible when it comes to carpooling with teammates to the fields. Our parking space is a limited resource, so please do what you can to help us out! Our volunteers will be there in the morning to guide you. Please be respectful and follow their directions.

Please Carpool! Note: There is NO PARKING allowed on the north side of Turner Road! You will get towed!

Coaches! Make sure to bring your cleats for the game!

6. Field Food/Water

Hopkins Hustle Weather/Rain Out Policy

WEATHER/RAIN OUT POLICY

In the event the event has to be cancelled prior to the tournament due to severe rain fall at the field site, Hopkins Ultimate will refund as much of each entry fee as possible while still covering fixed expenses and costs from vendors that are non-refundable. If the fields conditions are in question due to excessive rain in the weeks leading up to the tournament, a formal decision will be communicated to captains and coaches 48 hours prior to the event on whether or not the tournament will being going forward.

If inclement weather is experienced during the event, our staff will explore all possibilities in attempting to get games in, including changing formats, shortening games, updating or compressing the schedule, etc.  Related decisions are made by the tournament director and are non-negotiable and final. Refunds in this situation are not guaranteed, and will be to the discretion of the Hopkins Ultimate board and the tournament director based on the amount of games played by the participating teams.

After the unfortunate situation we ran into last year with wet fields, we will be publishing clear weather policy for the event this year. That will be communicated out to everyone prior to the bid window being opened.
